Peter Camejo Event
Peter Camejo, Green Party candidate for California Governor, was invited to campus to speak about the immigration issues on April 24, 2006. He discussed the issues facing immigrants in the United States and much more about the state of the country and California in particular. This event was co-hosted with the International Socialist Organization. For more information, check out the California Aggie's article here.
Green Party Candidates Speak
We had four Green Party candidates for California offices speak on February 1, 2006 on campus. Todd Chretien, candidate for US Senate; Forrest Hill, candidate for CA Secretary of State; Mehul Thakker, candidate for CA Treasurer; and Larry Cafiero, candidate for CA Insurance Commissioner. This event was co-hosted with Davis Students Against War, and the Davis chapters of the International Socialist Organization and Code Pink.
GPCA Plenary
We co-hosted the Green Party of California State Plenary on December 9-11, 2005 on the UC Davis campus with the Green Party of Yolo County.
UNITRANS Bus Sign Painting
We created three new bus signs for the UNITRANS double-decker buses. The signs made reference to Choice Voting as well as other important Green issues.
Food Bank Fundraising
In November, we decided to start collecting and donating money to the Food Bank of Yolo County. We collected $100. Since the Food Bank gets 9 times the value of cash donations, we figured it was the best way to help them while we were planning for the GPCA Plenary.
Canned Food Drive/Anti-War Rally
During an anti-war rally at the Memorial Union (hosted by various organizations on campus) in November, we held a canned food drive for the Food Bank of Yolo County.
National Campus Greens Convention
We hosted the National Campus Greens Convention August 10-15, 2004 on the UC Davis campus.
ASUCD Open Government
You can read more about this on its own page.
Food Bank of Yolo County
After the canned food drive by the schools in Yolo County, we helped sort canned food for the Food Bank of Yolo County in November.
California Campus Greens Convention
We attended the California Campus Greens Convention, hosted at San Francisco State University. While in San Francisco, we helped with Matt Gonzalez's mayoral campaign.
Choice Voting in ASUCD
The UC Davis students implement Choice Voting for Senate elections and IRV for the President/Vice-President. The Constitutional Amendment passed with 67% of voters voting "yes". We wrote the Constitutional Amendment and led the campaigns to get it on the ballot and to get it passed. Read more about it here.
